A vacuum emulsifying mixer is an industrial machine that blends immiscible liquid and solid ingredients into a stable, homogeneous emulsion. It combines a main emulsifying pot, pre-heating water pot, pre-heating oil pot, vacuum system, high-shear homogenizer, scraping agitator, heating/cooling jacket and control cabinet in one integrated unit.
Unlike simple stirring tanks, the VEM machine works under vacuum. The vacuum removes air bubbles generated during mixing, improves particle-size reduction and extends product shelf life. The high-speed rotor-stator homogenizer cuts particles down to 2–6 μm, which is essential for premium cosmetic creams and pharmaceutical ointments.

Choose electric heating for small units or steam heating for large production tanks.
Button panel or PLC touch screen; hydraulic lifting on large models for cleaning and inspection.
The MAXWELL vacuum emulsifying mixer follows a closed, automated batch process:
Pre-dispersion: Oil-phase and water-phase raw materials are loaded into separate pre-heating tanks. Each tank has its own stirrer and jacket for controlled heating.
Vacuum transfer: Heated materials are drawn into the main emulsifying pot by a vacuum pump, minimizing exposure to air.
Scraper mixing: A Teflon scraper agitator sweeps the inner wall at 10–120 rpm, preventing material buildup and creating fresh interfaces for emulsification.
High-shear homogenizing: The rotor-stator homogenizer spins at up to 3000 rpm, cutting the dispersed phase into micron or sub-micron droplets.
Vacuum degassing: Air bubbles are continuously removed under vacuum, resulting in a smooth, glossy cream.
Discharge: Finished product is discharged through a bottom valve or pumped to downstream filling equipment.

Figure 2. VEM vacuum emulsifying mixer process flow: oil pot → water pot → vacuum transfer → homogenizing → vacuum degassing → discharge.
Three-layer stainless steel pot body: Inner layer, jacket layer and insulation layer welded as one unit for efficient heating, cooling and operator safety.
Variable frequency speed control: Both scraper stirring (10–120 rpm) and homogenizing speed can be adjusted to match different viscosities.
Sanitary mirror polishing: Inner surfaces polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 μm, fully conforming to GMP requirements.
Fast dissolving of hard-to-wet powders: High-shear head rapidly disperses AES, AESA, LSA and other surfactants, shortening batch time.
Modular mixing heads: Optional anchor impeller, paddle, helical ribbon, dispersing disc or double planetary configurations for specialized formulations.
Overseas-standard electrical components: Motors, inverters and control elements selected for 380V/50Hz or custom voltage requirements.
CE-compliant safety design: Vacuum protection, over-temperature alarm and emergency stop integrated.

Choosing the right vacuum emulsifying mixer is less about the biggest number and more about matching batch size, formula viscosity and production frequency. The quick reference below maps typical project stages to the recommended VEM model.
| Project Stage | Recommended VEM | Working Capacity | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laboratory / R&D | VEM-5 / VEM-10 / VEM-30 | 5 – 30 L | Formula development, sample making, university & pilot labs |
| Pilot / Small Batch | VEM-50 / VEM-100 / VEM-150 | 50 – 150 L | Boutique skincare, trial production, small private-label runs |
| Small Production | VEM-250 / VEM-350 | 200 – 280 L | Daily chemical, toothpaste, medium cosmetic lines |
| Medium Production | VEM-500 | 400 L | Toothpaste, mayonnaise, salon-size cosmetic filling |
| Large Production | VEM-650 / VEM-1000 | 520 – 800 L | Cosmetic cream & personal care mass production |
What is your daily output target? A single 100L batch serves pilot lines; an 800L batch (VEM-1000) covers industrial daily demand.
What is the viscosity and temperature sensitivity? High-viscosity pastes need larger homogenizer power (7.5–11 kW on 500L–1000L models).
Do you need filling integration? Pair the mixer with a filling production line or tube filling & sealing machine for a turnkey line.
Need a tailored recommendation? Our engineers will size the VEM, homogenizer and heating system to your exact formula — just share your product and target capacity on the contact page.
The VEM-1000 is the flagship model for cosmetic and personal care manufacturers. With an 800L working capacity and 1000L design volume, it produces one batch of face cream, lotion or sunscreen in approximately 60–90 minutes, depending on formulation.
Main pot dimensions: 4800 mm × 3000 mm × 2500–3850 mm (L×W×H).
